Redefining 'SMART'

There's smart. And then there's brilliant. Mimetic Solutions has innovated a whole new way of smart chemical delivery. Our proprietary Affinimer™ chemistry enables the creation of tunable polymers that are specifically triggered by a target molecule, and then release a payload molecule under pre-defined conditions. Other technologies are capable of triggering by a target molecule followed by sustained release, and even controlled release. Affinimer technology is the only one capable of true smart release, driven by the most sensitive condition – binding of a related metabolite or biomarker. Simply brilliant.

Smart Release Technology

Mimetic Solutions has engineered the proprietary Affinimer™ technology, which enables the creation of entirely synthetic smart polymers that are tailored to have various recognition properties and functions. At the same time, these ‘affinimers’ exhibit other favorable properties such as greater stability in harsh environments, increased safety, and low cost. Affinimers are also advantageous because they can be tailored to bind almost any molecule with controlled selectivity and affinity. This Affinimer technology is being used to create smart release systems capable of recognizing specific environments and releasing drugs, bioactive agents or chemicals at predetermined times and dosages.

Our current focus is on Analyte Responsive Delivery (ARD) of drugs or cosmeceuticals triggered by key biomarkers or metabolites. The key is that we are able to engineer properties into a polymer that respond to binding of a specific chemical, such as a biomarker in the bloodstream or on the skin. This enables us to create particles that rupture only in the presence of the target analyte.

Our smart formulation enables a pulsed release exactly when the chemical or bioactive agent is needed. Typical delivery systems can be pre-programmed to release at certain times, but the release profile may not correlate with the actual biological status, such as the amount of a related disease biomarker. Mimetic Solutions’ analyte responsive delivery is ideally suited for applications where a targeted burst of chemical is needed at a specific time.

ANALYTE RESPONSIVE DELIVERY- The release of the bioactive agent is intimately connected to the level of a disease marker, minimizing peaks and valleys in the therapy.

TYPICAL DELIVERY SYSTEMS - The release of the bioactive agent is pre-programmed via dose schedule or pulsatile delivery system and is independent of the level of the disease marker, resulting in peaks and valleys in the therapy.
